Solving a common parent challenge
Yumble started when co-founders David Bloom, Chris Damsgard and Varun Poduval observed the challenges parents faced in packing their kids a lunch they felt good about, but also one with the variety and options they were craving.
The cofounders realized they hit a significant consumer problem after speaking with more parents and listening to their lunch-packing dilemmas. They found themselves asking, “What if there was a home delivery service that came with delicious pre-made and shelf-stable lunches and snacks packed in a bag that took away the stress of food preparation?”
Enter Yumble.
The company offers a smorgasbord of options so kids can mix it up and parents can rest easy knowing their kids are getting a variety of foods that they’ll actually eat.
“A majority of parents we talked to describe their kids as picky eaters, and many among them place convenience as a leading influence on food choices for their kids,” said Varun Poduval, co-founder of Yumble. “As a parent myself, I am excited to reimagine school lunches to relieve stress for busy families and make mealtime more enjoyable for kids. Yumble puts the focus on kid-approved options because we know the best lunch is the one that gets eaten.”
Developing breakthrough solutions
Yumble was developed as part of General Mills’ internal innovation engine, G-Works, which solves consumer problems through innovation.
“Yumble has identified a distinct pain point for parents and developed a solution that allows parents to choose what's right for their kids — while delivering the convenience they need for their busy lives,” said Hillary Balma, director of G-Works at General Mills. “The team’s agile and consumer-focused approach is the latest example of how G-Works is creating innovative solutions to the biggest problems in food today. I am immensely proud of Yumble’s entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to test and learn as they grow the business.”
