The Story of Lucky Charms
In his very first story for Amazon Alexa, Lucky and his magical friends take you on an immersive choose-your-own adventure St. Patrick’s Day tale titled “The Story of Lucky Charms.”
“It’s a fun opportunity for families to learn about Lucky Charms’ St. Patrick’s Day story, and to engage in creating stories together,” says Jessica TeBrake, assistant manager, Brand Experience at General Mills.
The new story skill, a collaboration between General Mills, Amazon and interactive production studio Xandra, is one of the first of its kind.
“We’re getting back to our roots of storytelling,” says TeBrake. “Voice has become such a big part of how people experience content, so we wanted to dial up our opportunity to tell stories with audio and voice.”
The adventure starts out by asking you to choose which rainbow you want to go down, and from there, your choices determine who you meet and how you navigate Lucky’s magical world.
There are several paths to choose and you’ll never have the same story twice.
“We dove deep into the Lucky Charms brand story and ethos to learn everything we could about the world and the characters who inhabit it from the people who know it best,” says Danielle Frimer, head of conversation design at Xandra. “We thought about how to structure things such that there would be a true progression and building of stakes, just like a kid might experience were they really chasing Lucky to the end of the rainbow.”
Be prepared for encounters with fairies, trolls, mermaids, rainbow zebras, and more colorful characters, all of whom are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in their own fun way.
“The script itself was written from a pretty magical little cabin in New Hampshire, right by a creek that had statuettes of gnomes, ladybugs, and frogs,” says Frimer. “Some of the magical elements of the story were also inspired by the place in which it was written!”
The story’s soundtrack is also magically unique.
“There is a ton of original music in this experience – practically a whole score has been created to bring Lucky’s world to life,” adds Frimer.
“The Story of Lucky Charms” is now available on Amazon Alexa, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
