Make smarter nutritional choices with Nutrition Highlights and Nutrition Facts.

The Nutrition Highlights panel

To help make nutrition decisions easier, General Mills’ Big G cereals feature a Nutrition Highlights panel on the front of each box.

Shown at right, the Nutrition Highlights panel lets consumers quickly see information about key nutrients.

Of course, all of our Big G cereals provide at least 8 grams of whole grain.

The Nutrition Facts panel

The familiar Nutrition Facts panel shown here provides the nutrition breakdown of the food inside the box – a quick way to see how a food fits into your diet.

The Nutrition Facts panel shows the Percent Daily Value (% DV) of nutrients in each serving, based on a 2,000-calorie diet. (You can get a quick estimate of what and how many calories you need to eat at MyPyramid.gov.)

Look for lower numbers in calories, saturated (bad) fat, cholesterol, and sodium, and a % DV of 10 percent or more for key nutrients such as folic acid, calcium and vitamin D.

A % DV between 10 and 19 percent is considered to be a good source of a nutrient. A % DV of 20 percent or more is considered to be an excellent source of that nutrient.
