Through the International Giving program, General Mills nourishes communities around the world.

Given General Mills’ growing global presence, the company supports a two-pronged international giving strategy. In international communities with General Mills' business operations, giving is in partnership with our business leaders and focuses on nutrition and fitness, education, feeding the hungry and social services. General Mills has also launched a global strategic initiative, the General Mills African Women & Children's Hunger Project, focused on reducing hunger in Malawi and Tanzania.

Giving in General Mills' International Communities

General Mills is committed to working with our global communities to address societal needs with breakthrough ideas, championship people and financial resources.

The focus of the international GMI community giving program is to:

• Improve the quality of life in global communities with General Mills’ facilities and employees
• Provide financial support to nonprofit organizations that create sustainable community improvement and support those in need in the areas of nutrition and fitness, education, hunger and social services
• Initiate innovative solutions and approaches to address societal problems

General Mills African Women & Children's Hunger Project

Through this hunger abatement project, General Mills will invest resources in Malawi and Tanzania, Africa. This financial contribution will be used to support in-country school feeding programs. It will also support investments in integrated food and agricultural improvements that will help women food producers become more self-sufficient. General Mills employees will also provide expertise in science and technology and general business knowledge transfer.

General Mills Science and Technology Transfer Initiative

An exciting new piece of our larger commitment to Africa is the creation of the General Mills Science and Technology Transfer Initiative. This Initiative leverages the talents and skills of our research & development and engineering employees and our world class facilities to offer the knowledge, skills and technical expertise to organizations in Africa, which are working to eliminate hunger and improve the lives of the poor in tangible and meaningful ways.
